Clifton NJ Homes: Space, Value & Its Own Train Stations

Weighing Clifton against nearby towns? See how it stacks up on price, schools, and commute → Find Your Town

Want space, selection, and a genuinely affordable price close to the city? Clifton delivers. One of North Jersey's largest towns, it offers more inventory and more house for the money than almost anywhere on my list — plus something most of these towns don't have: its own train stations.

🏡 Why buyers love Clifton

Affordable, with real selection. A big town means more homes on the market — you'll actually have options here, at prices the inner-ring towns can't match.

Everything at your door. The Route 3 corridor — Clifton Commons, the Tick Tock Diner, shopping and dining of every kind — is minutes away.

Its own train access. Unlike most towns nearby, Clifton has NJ Transit stations right in town, plus quick reach to neighboring Paterson's Great Falls and the wider area.

Big, diverse, and established. A settled community with a mix of neighborhoods and housing styles for every budget.

🚉 The commute
Clifton is one of the few towns on my list with its own train stations — service runs toward Hoboken with a transfer to PATH or a connecting train into New York, so it's a transfer rather than a one-seat ride. There are express bus options too. For the price and the space, a lot of buyers find the trade-off well worth it.
